Bass Stefano Palatchi has emerged as one of Spain´s most prominent singers. Having begun his career on the Zarzuela stage, he quickly gained his reputation as a basso cantante on the operatic stage. Born in Barcelona ( Spain) he studied with Maya Maiska and continued his vocal studies with Gino Bechi and Ettore Campogaliani in Italy, currently under the direction of Armen Boyajian in New York. Since his first appearance in the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona in 1986 he has become an assiduous performer in his stage, where he has sung more than 30 operas such a La Forza del Destino, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Lucia di Lamermoor, Aida, Bohème, Macbeth, Il Trovatore, Rogoletto, Turandot.. He apperead in the world première of Balada´s Cistobal Colon with Montserrat Caballé and José Carreras. He sang in Paris in the world re-opening performance of”Una cosa rara” from Martín y Soler and also in “ Lucrecia Borgia” with Joan Sutherland and Alfredo Kraus, both in the Theatre des Champs Elysées. Mr . Palatchi has appeared in many of the major Theatres and Festivals in Spain and througout Europe and America, including Madrid, Bilbao, Marseille ,Paris, Lisboa, Viena, Buenos Aires, santiago de Chile, Puerto Rico, Washington, San Francisco and the METROPOLITAN OPERA of New york. In the year of 2002 we could hear Mr Palatchi in Romeo et Juliette in Oviedo ( Spain), La Favorite ( Teatro del Liceo); Die Zauberflöte and Rigoletto ( Las Palmas de Gran Canarias); Il Viaggio a Reims ( La Coruña y San Sebastián); Marina ( Festival de Perelada); Otello (Teatro de la Maestranza) and The Chant Forest of Schostakovich ( Coruña). He has sung with such noted conductors as Gardelli, Bonynge, Santi Rodeswentsky, Oren, Lopez-Cobos, Zedda and performed with artists like sutherland, Gruberova, Caballé, Domingo, Carreras, Kraus, Aragall, Berganza, Zajick , Prey, Ghiaurov, Milnes, Alagna, Bartoli Bruson… RECORDINGS Mr. Palatchi can be heard in the world premiere recording of UNA COSA RARA with Jordi Savall, as well as new releases of Donizzetti´s LINDA DI CHAMOUNIX and ANNA BOLENA both with Edita Gruberova.
